Hatyai Jalan-Jalan @ 1/5/2008 ~ 4/5/2008

I was initially planned to climb Mount KK again with my fellow colleagues during this peak holiday period but I cancelled it off due to another planned oversea trip end of May which is going eat up my limited budget. However, I was then attracted and joint a Hatyai jalan-jalan trip with my colleagues on these dates at the end. Well… this wasn’t a shopping trip to me since there are not much trendy thingy to sell over there except aunties goods + I’ll be going somewhere else for shopping end of the month. : D So, this is merely just a jalan-jalan, cari makan trip to us, below are what we did in 4D3N after meet up with my colleague, Sam + her friend, Tesa and depart for our journey:-

KL > Ipoh
Dine at my preferred kopitiam Thean Chun ( 天津饮冰室 ) for brunch, had my favorite Ipoh Shredded Chicken Noodles ( "Ipoh Gai Si Sar Hor Fun" 怡保鸡丝沙河粉 ) + Pork Intestines Satay ( 猪杂沙爹 ) + Curry Pork Skin Chee Cheong Fun ( 咖喱猪皮猪肠粉 ) + the tempting Egg Custard ( 炖蛋 ). Yummy~~ We stopped over at Ipoh Railway Station for photos taking and take away some “Big Tree Trunk” 大树头 famous fried snacks which is also the 1st time I visit to these famous places as a half Ipoh citizen. We then continue the journey after my new friend, Tesa packed some of her belongings from her house.

Ipoh > Penang
Meet up with another colleague of mine, Sennie at Penang after we checked in a motel… which is the 1st time for me, overnight at motel where you can really feel the “chic-ness” around. At night, Sennie brought us makan + jalan-jalan at Gurney Drive and we had the famous Asam Laksa + Fried Kuey Teow + rojak as dinner. Apart from that, we also had our own beer hang out session later at night after separated with Sennie and had our shower back at the motel.

Penang > Hatyai
6hrs of van ride, we finally reached Hatyai, Thailand. Once after we checked in at The Regency Hotel, we had our lunch buffet at the famous Sky Restaurant, Lee Garden Plaza Hotel for just 129 Baht per pax. We then started our jalan-jalan in Hatyai, cari makan all the way. We’ve tried some special local food such as Luk Jin ( a type of sausage ball with pork + rice inside ), Sweet Mango Glutinous Rice, local porridge etc and also the not forgetting Thai Massage. Despite than these, we also bought home some crispy + refreshing mangoes and dried longan at competitive prices as compared to Malaysia. All in all, we enjoyed the jalan-jalan pretty much though it was really foot tiring.

Hatyai > Penang > Ipoh
Reached Penang at night and had our dinner at wanton mee stall owned by Tesa’s friend before we continue our journey down to Ipoh for a night stay. We reached Ipoh in midnight and had our supper at the famous Lou Wong Restaurant ( 老黃芽菜鸡 ) after we unload our backpack at Tesa’s brother’s house in Bercam, Ipoh. This is also the 1st time I had Ipoh Beansprouts Chicken a.k.a "Ipoh Ngar Choy Gai” at odd hour having been to / stays at Ipoh for so many many times ever since I was a kid.

Ipoh > KL
We had our late brunch at one of the Ipoh famous Dim Sum Restaurant, Ming Kok ( 明阁 ) which is also my 1st waiting for table + having meal at this venue itself because my uncle will normally take away their Dim Sum back to his house in Menglembu for us. Delicious duh… We then reload our backpack and head back to KL after we had a Ipoh Old Town White Coffee tea time at Nam Heong Restaurant.

Overall, this is an enjoyable jalan-jalan cari makan trip and also the 1st time I tour Ipoh in such a way. Thanks to my jalan-jalan kaki, Sam, Tesa, Sennie and her sis, Yennie. ^_^
